Ecosystems on tree trunks

The REU group

The vines are not very dense in El Yunque, since hurricanes come through often.

Does this look familiar? Ecosystem studies!

Small tree (In front of the vine) is a coffee tree. Its leftover from when the lands were coffee plantation staging areas. This tree hardly ever produces fruit but has been known to produce a bean every once in awhile. (I mean shit, it only has two leaves..)

Epiphytes, plants that grow on other plants.

Lizard dude, doing his thing on a palm.

Seeds of the Abrus Precatorius

Sonadora River, where the the amazing swimming hole exists.

Forest Canopy

Wasp nest, but these wasps are small.

Ortiga Plant, gives rashes when you touch it's spikes. However, there is a tea that can be made from its leaves also that will not hurt you.
